Pay: Up to $19 per hour DOE

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Vivarium Support Technician to join our client a global pharmaceutical company. In this role the individual will support laboratory animal care and vivarium operations. This role involves maintaining clean and sanitary housing for laboratory animals assisting with vivarium operations and preparing materials needed for research activities. If you are detailoriented and passionate about contributing to scientific research this is an excellent opportunity to join our clients team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize animal cages equipment and related environmental items.
• Perform daily maintenance checks on automated cage wash machines.
• Prepare housing for new animal arrivals and assist in receiving animals.
• Sanitize floors walls and surfaces in cage wash and lab areas.
• Maintain organized storage areas and a clean cage wash environment.
• Carry out animal care tasks such as changing liners and sanitizing animal rooms.
• Receive store and distribute animal husbandry supplies.
• Perform routine maintenance and limited troubleshooting of basic lab equipment.
• Prepare environmental enrichment items (edible and durable).
• Assist with study and colony material preparation as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Ability to problem solve make quick decisions and communicate effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work extended hours including evenings weekends and holidays sometimes on short notice.
• Ability to meet specific time constraints.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
• Push wheeled carts weighing up to 800 pounds.
• Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours daily).
• Use a broom and mop to sanitize surfaces repetitively.
• Work in narrow spaces and perform repetitive tasks.
• Wear personal protective equipment including respirators when required.

Work Environment:

• Moderate to high noise levels; noise protection provided.
• Exposure to wet humid and hot conditions.
• Regular handling of caustic chemicals and rodent dander.
• Occasional exposure to live animals with risks associated with allergens zoonotic diseases and biohazards.
