Job Description

Job Overview

The Assistant Director of Finance is responsible to oversee and manage the daytoday financial operations of Faena New York. This individual will be accountable for all aspects of financial management timely and accurate reporting and analysis ensuring compliance with accounting policies procedures and internal controls are in place as directed by the Complex Finance Director and required by Faena New York.

They will ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations and play a role providing leadership in the development of the accounting and purchasing staff including hiring training crosstraining in collaboration with Faena New Yorks Human Resources department.

This role requires a detailoriented professional with strong leadership skills financial acumen and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments including working within a shared services capacity to achieve the companys financial goals. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all job functions in the accounting area.
  • Be committed to follow all hotel and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Must have a high degree of professional integrity maintain confidentiality and work in a safe prudent and organized manner.
  • Assist the Complex Finance Director in ensuring that all accounting team members understand and follow the applicable policies and procedures that are outlined in the FH&Rs financial COPs manual.
  • Monitor and supervise the accounting departments daily routines to ensure smooth effective and efficient daily work practices.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations account analyses and closing procedures at month end in a timely manner.
  • Validate the accuracy and timeliness of all income audit transactions and monitoring adherence to established procedures.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all internal reporting (Daily Revenue Report Daily Labor Report Cash Over/Short report etc.)
  • Supervise the filing and maintenance of all accounting related documents and records in accordance with the document retention COP.
  • Collaborate with Faena Groups Director of Accounting to ensure the accuracy and timeliness or all operational tax/audit reporting requirements.
  • Conduct a productive monthly departmental meeting to communicate all pertinent departmental hotel district and company information.
  • Assist the Complex Finance Director to plan recruit and hire departmental staff.
  • Oversee the training cross training and development of the accounting team.
  • Must be willing to perform accounting related tasks and duties as assigned by the Complex Finance Director such as surprise house bank audits cash flow schedule forecasting budgeting internal control and completing account reconciliations and analyses.
  • Preparation of any special reports statements and accounting related tasks and duties as assigned by the Complex Finance Director.
  • Effectively manage and communicate related issues related to management of receivables payables daily cash balances and timely deposits of all funds.
  • Must prepare all financial statements accruals and journal entries and maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the contents of Faena Hotels & Residences financial collaborative operating procedures (COPs)
  • Coordinate witness and validate the preparation of all operating equipment and supply inventories in accordance with corporate policies as directed by the Complex Finance Director.
  • Assist the Complex Finance Director in the preparation of all budgets and forecasts in a timely manner.
  • Supervise the daytoday activities of all accounting team including lending them a hand when necessary to stay current.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of all local state and federal tax returns and other federal/local reporting requirements on a timely basis.
  • Take prompt and appropriate personnel related action (i.e. hire commend reward discipline evaluate etc.) to ensure proper staffing competency and discipline.
  • Participate in the development of team training/building programs to minimize staff turnover.
  • Must always be professional in conduct and manner to reflect the high standards of Faena Hotels & Residences

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or related field 
  • Must have experience in Hospitality Industry
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in finance or accounting with at least of 2 to 3 years of experience as Assistant Director of Finance in a luxury property

Skills

  • Must be flexible and able to work some weekends and holidays  
  • Past supervisory experience leading a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments to streamline financial processes and improve financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of financial management but also strategic thinker and strong leadership skills
  • Satisfactorily communicate with guests management and coworkers to their understanding
