The Homelessness Prevention Administration (HPA) works to keep New Yorkers in their homes. HPA works with the Department of Homeless Services (OHS) the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) and many other organizations and City agencies to assist families and individuals in need in obtaining and maintaining stable affordable housing.
Under general supervision with latitude for independent decision making and action in accordance with agency policies/procedures and federal/state regulations reports to Assistant Deputy Commissioner and is responsible for ensuring the timely processing of emergency rent arrears grants approved by the Rental Assistance Unit (RAU) for and FHEPS housing subsidy grants approved by the FHEPS Centralized Determination Unit (FCDU) The Centralized Rent Processing Unit is a responsible for the citywide processing of checks for approved emergency rent arrears requests and approvals by FCDU on requests for FHEPS housing subsidy payments.
Homelessness Prevention Administration HPA/ HHSI is recruiting one (1) Administrative Job Opportunity Specialist NM II to function as the CENTRALIZED RENT PROCESSING UNIT (CRPU) Director.
The CRPU Director will:
Direct the onsite management planning and monitoring of all activities that contribute to the
timely delivery of varied public assistance to eligible persons/families by ensuring that the
expenditure of public funds through the public assistance programs is in conformity with
Federal and State laws and all relevant Agency policies. Ensure compliance with proper display
of mandated signage.
Oversee the activities of the various program components of the CRPU/Job Center which are
designed to facilitate service delivery to specialized populations to minimize wait time and assist
participants in achieving maximum selfsufficiency.
Supervise and provide technical support and training to the Deputy Directors in the application
function /recertification functions of public assistance/food stamp grants. Liaison as the principal
representative of CRPU in meetings with City and/or State Officials.
Oversee the daily operation of CRPU/Job Center which involves overall case management
functions such as screening referral provision of appropriate public assistance benefits
advocacy and coordination of all Human Resources Administration (IIRA) and provider services.
Determine training needs of staff; oversee planning and development of comprehensive training
programs of staff development; monitor and evaluate training curriculum to ensure that agency
and program goals are met; monitor staffs attendance at training; assesses the effectiveness of
training; manage all staff development initiatives.
Manage CRPU/Job Center performance goals and submits operating and performance reports in
accordance with prescribed assignments to the Senior Director; directs development and
preparation of management reports that summarize highlight and analyze fluctuations in
activities/performance; recommend implement and monitor corrective actions where problems are discerned.

Qualification Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university plus four years of satisfactory fulltime experience performing work related to providing employment related services or economic support services to persons in need at least eighteen months of this experience must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity; or
2. A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent and eight years of fulltime experience equivalent to 1 above; at least eighteen months of this experience must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits for one year; year of work experience. However all candidates must have at least a fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least eighteen months of experience must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity as described in 1 above.
