Job Description
Civil Service Title Transportation Specialist 3

Serves as Director of the OverDimensional Vehicle Permit Unit in the Division of Bridges. Responsible for assisting the Senior Director with the daytoday activities and functions of the Truck Permit Units processing and issuance of the OverDimensional Annual Overweight Load and Special Hauling / Annual Crane permits. Oversees the processing of film production vehicles applications and coordinates with NYC DOT Fiscal Affairs The Mayors Office of Film and film production staff. Manages the processing of all daily overdimensional vehicle permits. Plans assigns and monitors and evaluates the work of unit staff. Reviews the work of the staff for accuracy and adherence to unit policies and procedures. Collects and analyses information regarding route surveys and geometric survey submissions for large ongoing construction projects. Routes overdimensional and overweight vehicles to maintain traffic flow speed restrictions and height and weight restrictions. Acts as liaison to various city agencies such as NYPD MTA Tunnel and Bridges Port Authority of NYNJ and New York State DOT. Meets with ITT staff to review enhancements to permitting systems. Performs other related duties.
Preferred Skills
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Qualifications :
1. A masters degree in transportation engineering mathematics urban planning architecture landscape architecture urban studies or related physical and social science fields; or
2. A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college and one year of fulltime satisfactory experience performing technical work on roadway transportation and traffic studies and areawide traffic programs; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 2 above; or
4. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 2 above; or
5. A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 2 above.
SPECIAL NOTE:
In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements above:
To be assigned to Assignment Level II the candidate must have an additional year of experience as described in the Qualification Requirements listed under 2 above.
To be assigned to Assignment Level III the candidate must have an additional two years of experience as described in the Qualification Requirements listed under 2 above.
