The Team Youll Work With:
New York City nonprofits engage millions of residents each year in critical programs from arts and culture to community building to housing and the sector employs nearly a fifth of all NYC workers. The City across all agencies contracts and collaborates extensively with nonprofits for a range of public services. Recognizing nonprofits essential role in the fabric of the City in late 2021 the City Council passed Int. 1784 to establish a Mayors Office of NotforProfit Services.
The Mayors Office for Nonprofit Services will engage with and support both New York Citys nonprofit sector and City agencies that contract with nonprofit partners. Among its core functions the Office will serve as a hub to engage and communicate critical information to nonprofits develop and coordinate the delivery of capacitybuilding programs to support nonprofits to more easily contract with the City research the health of the sector and coordinate activities to advance the recommendations of the Joint Task Force to Get Nonprofits Paid on Time.
The Problems Youll Solve:
As a part of the Mayors Office for Nonprofit Services (MONS) you will tackle key challenges nonprofits face when contracting with the city. The role is centered on solving problems such as inequitable access to contracts particularly for smaller and BIPOCled organizations and addressing delays in payment processing that can jeopardize the sustainability of vital services. You will work on improving the capacity of nonprofits to manage contracts and operations helping streamline city procurement processes and ensuring that nonprofits have the tools and support they need to thrive in delivering essential services to New Yorkers.
About You:
Working in close coordination with the Executive Director the Deputy of Operations will have wide latitude for independent action and decisionmaking in developing and managing the offices collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders. The Director of Operations will perform the following job responsibilities which include and are not limited to:
Oversee and manage special projects to ensure appropriate goals and timelines are met.
Ensure intraoffice coordination promoting positive and efficient relationships and communication between all teams.
Support internal/external stakeholder communications by acting as a liaison with City Hall City agencies community advocates elected officials and civic organizations.
Assisting in coordinating the implementation of project management tasks associated with a wide array of initiatives.
Work closely with the Executive Director to establish systems and processes to ensure the Office is effective and operates in an efficient manner.
Work with MONS leadership to help guide projects through administrative hurdles and towards implementation.
Guide and support staff in project design resolving operational challenges and pursuing additional strategic collaborative relationships with nonprofit partners and city agency staff to advance our goals.
Lead and manage additional projects as needed.
Preferred Skills:
The Director of Operations will demonstrate a successful combination of the following key personal qualities attributes and professional qualifications:
Two or more years of experience in City government with a preference for experience relating to work with nonprofit health and human services providers.
Knowledge of/experience with City procurement contracting and budget processes.
Demonstrated ability to build consensus among diverse City and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience leading the implementation of crossagency initiatives.
Experience working with nonprofits of a wide range of sizes and understanding of the organizational challenges they face including barriers to contracting with the City.

Qualifications :
1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative analytic coordinative supervisory or liaison responsibilities
3. Do you have a fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a states Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question 2 above
4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions 1 2 and/or 3 above
