During a summer in the Parenterals and Eye Care group within PDS&T the intern will own a technical project focused on the rheology behavior of sterile liquid formulations and critical formulation compatibility analysis. Under supervision of senior research personnel in the group the individual will have the opportunity to:

• Gain exposure in a pharmaceutical product development setting
• Experience liquids formulation preparation and characterization
• Apply knowledge and learnings to optimize future formulation design

This internship position is located in Irvine CA.

Key responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating scientific initiative and creativity in research and development activities.
• Leveraging strong scientific background to design studies for formulation preparation and characterization and optimization.
• Developing and executing laboratory work drawing conclusions and deviations.
• Summarizing and presenting results with clear conclusions and recommendations for future steps
• Maintaining compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
• Understanding and adhering to corporate standards regarding code of conduct safety and appropriate handling of materials.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications 

• Currently enrolled in university pursuing a Masters or PhD in Material Sciences Chemical Engineering Pharmaceutical Sciences Biomedical Engineering or other related field of study.
• Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expected graduation date between December 2025 June 2026.
• Previous lab research experience related to formulation drug delivery or polymers.
• Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments and propose additional experiments.
• Selfmotivated; ability to execute experimental work with limited supervision and direction. Can work independently or part of a team.
• Troubleshoot experiments identify and solve elementary problems in experimental design including laboratory experimentation.
• Proficient in required software including Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook Teams.
