Job Description
Purpose:
AbbVie Inc is embracing new paradigms and technologies to develop novel and lifechanging therapies across a diverse range of therapeutic areas. The Quantitative Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS) department at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated and energetic bioanalytical scientist to join Biologics Bioanalysis Characterization and Proteomics (BBCP) group in North Chicago IL. The main function of this position will be to develop and implement LCMS (liquid chromatographymass spectrometry)based bioanalysis and in vitro characterization assays for biologics entities including monoclonal antibodies multispecific antibodies and antibody drug conjugates (ADC) peptides lipid nanoparticles (LNP) AdenoAssociated Virus (AAV) etc. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the optimization and implementation of novel and routine LCMSbased bioanalytical methods to support in vivo PK and TK studies as well as in vitro stability characterization of biologics and genetic medicines. The candidate will be responsible for routine sample preparation method development instrument maintenance data analysis writing reports and presenting data at internal and external meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize and implement bioanalytical methods for quantifying large molecule biologic drugs (including but not limited to antibodies ADCs fusion proteins etc.) in biological matrices using LCMS MRM assay.
- Perform highthroughput sample preparation in both biofluids and tissues to support PK PD TK and characterization studies.
- Support biologics and genetic medicine drug development by developing in vitro characterization assays using high resolution MS systems.
- Routinely operate LCMS and automation instruments including maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Write and maintain protocols and facilitate assay optimization and implementation to ensure data quality.
- Utilize and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks and LIMS systems for study documentation.
- Present data internally and externally.
Qualifications :
- Degree in chemistry pharmacology or other related fields. BS with 7 years or MS with 5 years in a pharmaceutical industry setting with a focus on mass spectrometry.
- Highly motivated individual with a strong intellectual and technical background in bioanalytical and characterization method development specifically for biologics and genetic medicine modalities using LCMS/MS. Must have direct experience in both small and large molecule quantitation (in biological matrices) peptide mapping PTM analysis intact/reduced protein analysis (in biological matrices) and lipid profiling in LNPs.
- Deep and broad knowledge in separation science and mass spectrometry. Extensive handson experience in maintaining and troubleshooting SCIEX Triple Quad (6500/7500) Agilent QTOF 6545 and Agilent HPLCs is required.
- Experience in performing immunoaffinity purification and sample preparation using automation systems (including but not limited to AssayMap Bravo Hamilton TECAN) is highly preferred.
- Experience in using LIMS system for sample and data management is a must.
- Strong data analytical skills are required. Experience with Skyline Protein Metrics Analyst Sciex OS and MassHunter is preferred.
- Knowledge in drug discovery and related disciplines. Indepth understanding in vivo PK TK studies and corresponding bioanalytical assays is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills strong analytical and organizational abilities and the ability to work independently and thrive in a team environment.
- Desire to excel in a fastpaced environment with strong problemsolving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
