As a Senior Cost Manager you will need to have proven experience gained within a consultancy or client organisation (Healthcare Science and Higher Education sectors preferable). You will be joining a team focused on interesting and complex projects ranging from small 1m refurbishments to 350m hospitals and laboratories and 500m masterplans.
Your experience will enable you to lead the day to day on medium size projects with minimal supervision while supporting the development of our junior team through as part of your duties. On larger projects youll be supporting Associates and Directors to manage twostage procurement processes drive value for our clients through design phases and change control. The role offers a clear route to the management of major projects and development programmes (200m).
You will be expected to work as part of an integrated team in our Cambridge office the role covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development through the design process procurement process site delivery commissioning phase and defects management.
Heres what youll do:
- Support / Lead Cost Management commissions taking responsibility for their successful delivery; particularly in the healthcare and higher education sectors.
- Provide effective support and mentoring to Cost Managers Graduates and Apprentices.
- Ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently on time and to the clients satisfaction.
- Develop strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team.
- Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing).
- Help with delivery of cost management team outputs in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards.
- Provide full Cost Management duties to AECOM clients.
- Managing and motivating a project team of surveyors.
- High degree of flexibility and creativity excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants.
- The delivery of Cost Management Services within a Client focused and highly motivated professional team.

Heres what were looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree Qualified BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
- Professionally Qualified ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS CIOB or other equivalent institution.
- Proven experience in a consulting environment providing the full spectrum of Cost Management services including PreContract Estimating; Procurement; Contract Administration Cost Reporting and Final Account resolution.
- Understanding of a variety of project types/sizes/sectors particularly healthcare and higher education.
- Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost value and risk not just cost in isolation.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of NEC4 Option A is necessary; Option C highly advantageous.
- Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilise digital measurement cost planning and tender document tools shall be essential.
- Excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants.
- Ability to manage relationships effectively identifying and resolving issues at the earliest possible opportunity.
