SOCS185 - Culture and Society Online Visiting Professor Part-time

We are interested in developing longterm relationships with superior instructors who have high professional standards excellent communication skills enthusiasm and a commitment to providing the finest practitionerfocused education.

We are seeking primarily Industry Professionals to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of fields.   

Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks. The interaction is blended with technology (such as online discussions and online assignments) for an enhanced learning environment. Commitment is on a course by course basis.

Course of instruction: 

SOCS185 Culture and Society This course explores the role of culture in social organizations. Social institutions and the issues of race and gender within social structures are analyzed in the context of multicultural societies and increasing global interaction. Basic sociological principles and research findings are used to support analysis of cultural and social issues.

Responsibilities: 

• Develops and provides students with an approved Chamberlain University syllabus that follows a template and includes the terminal course objectives.

• Organizes prepares and regularly revises and update all course materials.

• Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and courserelated software including Websites email and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.

• Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students provide clarity and improve student learning.

• Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives assignment/examinations dates and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.

• Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.

• Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provide timely feedback to students.

• Completes other duties as assigned

• Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications :

• PhD or masters degree with a major in Sociology Social Work Social Science American studies Gender studies or Ethnics required
• Have at least 15credit hours of online higher education teaching experience (highly preferred)
• Possess genuine passion for nursing education and lifelong learning
• Have exceptional subject matter expertise as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion respect and care
• Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues students and the broader community
• Have a strong work ethic learn from mistakes build positive spirit and always look for a better way
• Put the team first appreciate diverse points of view assume positive intent collaborate and communicate openly

Additional Information :

Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position Online:
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected compensation rate for this position is between $850/Earned Credit Hour to $1950/Earned Credit Hour depending on the candidates education and experience.

Actual pay may be adjusted based on jobrelated factors permitted by law such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
