Job Description

JS Helds Accident Reconstruction practice in Canada is seeking a parttime Senior Forensic Injury Biomechanist. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong interest in injury biomechanics as well as a foundation of experience in expert witness testimony. In addition to their core biomechanics work mentoring and training junior engineers and occasionally participating in informative presentations for clients and peers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned biomechanics projects efficiently while maintaining communication with client and project team on status and scope of assigned projects.
  • Conduct unbiased field investigations and testing of incidents and/or loss events.
  • Perform testing (i.e. brake/acceleration testing slip testing) as required.
  • Analyze data and conduct complex calculations.
  • Conduct thorough and uptodate research reviews
  • Provide technical findings analysis and conclusions either verbally or in writing in a timely fashion and in laymens terms.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court 
  • Travel for client meetings field work marketing and business development within the province and on occasion outside the province.
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge related to the practice area(s) through attending continuing education courses and workshops attending industry/practice related seminars reviewing relevant scientific and professional publications and participating in professional organizations and societies.
  • Continuously meet or exceed assigned performance metrics and goals.

Qualifications :

  • Degree in Biomedical or Biomechanical Engineering or Biomechanics/Kinesiology preferably with a Masters degree or greater.
  • 10 years of experience.
  • Excellent handson abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in technical reports is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attitude to deliver results.
  • Mathematically and technologically inclined with the ability to adapt to new environments or scenarios quickly.
  • Skilled with software and technical systems.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensure and certification.
  • Willingness and desire to work above and beyond the minimum performance and goal requirements.
  • Knowledge of research methods and statistical analysis with the ability to review research and determine legitimacy of conclusions.

  • Must be able to travel to different regions primarily within province. (have reliable transportation etc.)
