Duties and Responsibilities:
General responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide direct services to Students and Families:
- Collaborate with Grade Level Partner(s) to engage Students and determine individual levels of need;
- Provide Counseling support for a caseload of assigned Students with Mandated Counseling Services;
- Support nonassigned Students as needed (eg. following up on referrals);
- Provide crisis intervention as needed;
- Complete documentation for Students with IEPs in a timely manner and participate in annual reviews;
- Utilize individual and group modalities to address Students social emotional needs;
- Engage Families through phone calls scheduled meetings Report Card Night and school activities or events;
- Conduct home visits as needed;
- Collaborate with Grade Level Team to support Students around academic progress including individual and group interventions and communication with families;
- Maintain contact and session records as directed by Manager.
- Provide indirect services to Students and Families:
- Provide referrals for outside services for Students who cannot be supported within our school setting and maintain communication with providers as needed;
- Collaborate and communicate as needed with Supervisors Staff and outside Providers to meet Students needs;
- Provide recommendations to the Staff and Leadership team around approaches to working with struggling Students;
- Support the School community:
- Participate actively in Department meetings Faculty meetings and other meetings;
- Consider opportunities to share responsibility for gradelevel and schoolwide activities including chaperoning day and overnight trips;
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and confidentiality when working with Students Parents and Staff;
- Follow the guidelines of the NASW Code of Ethics and NYS Mandated Reporting.
Qualifications :

- Documented track record of personal and professional success
- Extensive knowledge of adolescent development
- Experience in therapeutic modalities related to children and families in traditionally underserved communities including assessment and treatment of trauma
- Experience working within a school environment or extensive work with teenagers and young adults
- Must have a LMSW or MSED in School Counseling from CACREPaccredited school plus 3 years postlicense work experience
- Spanish speaking highly preferred
Additional Information :
KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70829 $142270 per year. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role NYS initial or professional certification and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidates years of experience certification and longevity at point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.
