Lead Software Engineer

RaIS team within VAS (Value added Services) organization is looking for curious creative and talented technologists to join our team. This position is ideal for an experienced software engineer who is passionate about collaborating with business and technology partners and engineers to solve challenging business problems. You will be the lead engineer of the Risk and Identity development team to design and build of software solutions that leverage data to solve critical and strategic business problems build tools and services that safeguard Visas payment systems including idea generation architecture design development and testing of products applications and services that provide Visa clients with solutions to detect prevent and mitigate fraud for Visa and Visa client payment systems. A successful candidate should have indepth software engineering skills that can guide the other team members on daytoday tasks familiarity of software development cycles to communicate with stakeholders effectively great learning capabilities that can zoom in and out of projects based on business needs and broad knowledge of Database J2EE and Web technologies.

Essential Functions

• Drive projects that involve full stack development using Java Spring Microservices Rest based APIs frontend frameworks like ReactJS and Spark/Scala based processing on Hadoop platform
• Drive solution architecture and technical architecture with product owners engineers and technical product managers to scale products to highly functional secure performant and resilient platforms.
• Drive development effort EndtoEnd for ontime delivery of high quality solutions that conform to requirements conform to the architectural vision and comply with all applicable standards. 
• Present technical solutions capabilities considerations and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status issues and risks in a precise and timely manner
• Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers Architects Analysts Software Engineers Project Managers etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven solutions
• Drive release planning exercise track development and testing to timely releases
• Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify document plan contingency track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved
• Work on emerging technologies building distributed applications
• Guide and unblock other team members on daytoday engineering tasks.
• Mentor/grow/hire the best engineers.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 23 days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:
10 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD OR 13 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 810 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD
Have had handson engineering experience architecting high performant platforms
Technically savvy and have deep understanding about system architecture and design best practices from building client facing high performant systems with high SLAs
Experience leading full stack development using some of these technologies Java Spring MVC Spring Boot React JS JavaScript MongoDB Maven and Design Patterns Test Automation framework
Experience leading development on large data processing and transaction systems
Have great work ethics and be a team player striving to bring the best results as a team
Experience leading development with engineers and teams in multiple geographical locations and time zones
Strong interpersonal facilitation and effective communication skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear concise way
Be passionate about delivering zero defect code that meet or exceed the proposed defect SLA and have high sense of accountability for quality and timeliness of ones own deliverables and team deliverables
Be flexible to adapt to changing directions and priorities
Proficiency in Java Spring boot and API security
Proficiency in React JS is good to have or experience with Angular JS
Proficiency in implementing design patterns and hands on knowledge of Spring hibernate and RDBMS technologies like SQL Server Oracle or similar and No SQL technology like MongoDB is preferred.
Proven skills in technologies like Redis Cache Tomcat jQuery kendo NodeJS is preferred.
Experience with web service standards and related patterns (REST JSON)
Experience with Agile development incorporating TDD Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery utilizing technologies such as GIT Maven Jenkins Chef Sonar JUnit Mock frameworks.
Experience developing large scale enterprise class distributed system or subsystems that require high availability lowlatency & strong data consistency computing
Experience implementing solutions for lowlatency distributed services using open standard technologies.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear & concise way a team player with a strong work ethic

Additional Information :

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 510% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 175100.00 to 253950.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on jobrelated factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location. In addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
