Working Hours
The Radiologic Technologist will normally work from Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 3:00pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The Radiologic Technologist will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
Provide Radiologic Technologist services professional in nature in a method commensurate with the local community and in accordance with Joint Commission (JC) standards and Bureau of Prison (BOP) policy; maintenance of Radiologic Technologist services performed on the machines daily maintenance of equipment perform Radiologic Technologist as ordered by provides in given timeframes.
Qualifications
- Must have completed Radiologic Technologist program as an approved state program.
- Certified as a Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
- Shall be licensed diagnostic radiologic technologist by the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
- Must have at least two (2) or more years of experience.
- Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).

Attire
The Radiologic Technologist is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contractor will be performing. The Radiologic Technologist is prohibited from wearing khaki or green clothing of any type as this is the color clothing the Adults in Custody (AIC) population wear.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the inmate population at the institution.
- Transmit retrieve radiographic images and reports electronically and scan reports into
- inmates Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Receive training to retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule them to
- perform all radiographic procedures.
- Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
- Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
- Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
- Notify Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while patient is undergoing an exam so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
- Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.
- Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
- Independently perform all radiographic imaging
- Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
- Work with Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
- Act as liaison between radiologist and medic staff.
- Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
- Develop a working knowledge of the local medical protocols.
- Wear outer protective clothing and abide by the Center for Disease Control universal precautions.
- Function in other duties commensurate of a Radiology Technician.
- Computerization and printing of daily log.
- Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
- Complete all xray studies ordered by the medical staff in a timely manner.
- Printing of all folder and exam labels
- Completing all xray studies ordered by the medical staff.
- Preparing xrays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation
- Transport of xrays to radiologist for interpretation
- Transport all xrays from radiologist after interpretation.
- Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
- Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on xray equipment as needed
- Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for TJC and program review as needed
- Assuring that all xray requests are completed properly.
- Computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis.
