Laundry Attendant

Roles and responsibilities

Operate washing machines and dryers to clean linens, towels, and garments.
Sort and fold clean laundry items.
Inspect linens and garments for stains or damage.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area.
Follow proper safety and sanitation procedures.
Handle guest inquiries and requests in a courteous and professional manner.
Assist with inventory management and ordering of laundry supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
1. Laundry Processing
Sorting Laundry: Sort laundry by fabric type, color, and washing instructions to prevent damage and ensure proper cleaning.
Washing and Drying: Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment according to established guidelines.
Folding and Ironing: Fold clean laundry neatly and iron garments as required for guest or customer use.
Stain Treatment: Pre-treat stains and use appropriate cleaning agents to remove tough stains from fabrics.
2. Quality Control
Inspecting Items: Check for any damage, missing items, or other issues with laundry before and after washing.
Ensuring Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure that laundry is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
3. Laundry Equipment Maintenance
Operating Equipment: Properly operate washing machines, dryers, and steam presses to ensure efficiency and safety.
Troubleshooting: Report any malfunctioning equipment or operational issues to maintenance for repair.
Cleaning Machines: Perform basic maintenance by keeping the laundry machines clean and free of buildup.
4. Inventory Management
Tracking Supplies: Keep track of laundry supplies (detergents, fabric softeners, etc.) and notify management when supplies are low.
Storage of Clean Laundry: Organize and store clean laundry items, such as linens, towels, and uniforms, in a manner that keeps them clean and easily accessible.
5. Customer Service (if applicable)
Handling Special Requests: Address special laundry needs from customers or guests, such as specific folding, washing instructions, or delivery requests.
Assisting Guests (if in a hospitality setting): Help with any guest laundry needs or complaints about laundry services, ensuring a high level of service.

Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required.
