Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The Accounting Area in the School of Management (SOM) seeks applicants for a term faculty position in the field of financial and managerial accounting starting Spring 2025. The successful candidate will teach 24 units for the year (i.e. 12 units per semester) and contribute to a collaborative presence in the community. Teaching responsibilities may include required core courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as electives in the candidates area of expertise. The Accounting Program in SOM has an undergraduate major and one graduate program the Master of Science in Accounting. Core courses are also taught in parttime fulltime and Executive MBA programs.
Some examples of core courses include Financial Accounting Managerial Accounting and Intermediate Accounting. Individuals should feel comfortable teaching with technology as the curriculum is delivered through inperson and/or online modalities. Practiceoriented and disciplinebased theoretical or empirical research is encouraged; however it is not an explicit responsibility of the position. Candidates at any professor rank are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a doctorate (or be ABD) in accounting or a related discipline.
- Previous professional experience (such as teaching experience or teaching assistantships corporate training pedagogical publications or attendance at conferences) that demonstrates an interest in teaching excellence is expected.
- A commitment to social justice and the ability to work with a diverse group of students faculty and staff is required.
- Applicants must have a strong equity lens and a record of creating inclusive spaces for learning and development.
