Job Description

We are seeking a Psychiatrist who will provide face to face clinical care to immigration detainees in HCAs Immigration Detention Facility at Villawood and advice to fellow clinical staff  regarding psychiatric services while ensuring high standards of care for patients.

The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering compassionate evidencebased care and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes patient recovery and wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide face to face psychiatric care including  assessments diagnosis and treatment of patients with mental health disorders 
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care plans that address the physical and mental health needs of patients 
  • Facilitate ongoing training and education for staff on current psychiatric practices emerging trends and therapeutic interventions. 
  • Advocate for the needs of patients ensuring they receive appropriate resources and support throughout their treatment journey 

Qualifications :

Qualifications

  • Education: Medical qualification to enable registration with AHPRA or MCNZ and then undertake specialist psychiatry training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
  • Licensure: Current board certification in Psychiatry and active medical licensure in Australia.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in psychiatric practice.
  • Clinical Skills: Expertise in evidencebased psychiatric assessment and treatment including medication management and therapeutic interventions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients families and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to utilize data to inform clinical decisions and enhance service delivery.
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural and social factors that impact mental health care.
