Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires Fingerprints and Drug Screen.
Type of Employment: FullTime 40 hours per week.
Estimate Pay: $28.35/hour.
Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80hours per year occurring on day one.
Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56hours per year occurring on day one.
Paid Federal Holidays: Twelve (12) Paid Federal Holidays
Working Hours
The Phlebotomist will normally work from Monday through Thursday from 6:30am to 3:00pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The Phlebotomist will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
The Phlebotomist will provide Phlebotomy Services professional in nature in a method commensurate with the local community and in accordance with Joint Commission (JC) standards and BOP policy; maintenance of a waiting list daily maintenance of laboratory equipment including advising the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) when equipment requires professional maintenance or repair; biological specimen collection preparation and packaging for shipment to the Bureau of Prison laboratories; maintenance of laboratory logs and other records as necessary for complying with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines; inform COR of all information pertaining to the services rendered i.e. specimen(s) obtained and reporting any problems arising in regards to laboratory services to the COR or his designee.
Qualifications
Must have completed a 12week Laboratory Technician Program at an approved state program or possess an associate degree.
A minimum of one (1) year of Phlebotomist or Laboratory Technician experience in a clinical setting.
Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).

Attire
The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collection of blood and urine samples preparation and tracking of all laboratory samples.
Daily maintenance of laboratory equipment notify the laboratory manager when the equipment requires professional maintenance repair.
Biological specimen preparation and packaging for shipment to contract laboratories.
Maintain laboratory logs and other records as necessary to comply with Clinical Laboratory Inspection Amendment (CLIA) guidelines.
Keep the laboratory manager informed of all information pertaining to the services rendered i.e. specimens obtained; and reporting any problems arising regarding laboratory services Require direct entries into the inmates medical record.
Assist the Physician Physician Assistant and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
Organize schedule and perform laboratory studies specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit to include A&O inprocessing DNA per procedure vaccine programs and PPD updates.
Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or Bureau of Prison Reference Laboratory and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.
Ensure that laboratory requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract laboratory provider notified log results in as received follow up appropriately and file results in laboratory and medical record/ COPIA.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Program Statement for Laboratory Services and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact CLIA recertification maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.
