Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires Fingerprints and Drug Screen.
Type of Employment: FullTime 40 hours per week.
Estimate Pay: $28.17/hour.
Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80hours per year occurring on day one.
Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56hours per year occurring on day one.
Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
Working Hours
The Dental Technician will normally work from Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 3:00pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The Dental Technician will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
The Dental Assistant will provide services such as retrieving patients records and escort patients to proper dental specialty section; seat and prepare patient for attending Dental Officer; assist the Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments essential materials drugs and medications; pass instruments and other related Dental Assistant duties.
Qualifications
Must possess a certificate from a Dental Assistant accredited school or program.
Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.
Must be licensed by the New Jersey Board of Dentistry as a Registered Dental Assistant.
A minimum of Two (2) years experiences as Dental Assistant.
Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC) or the American Heart Association (AHA).
Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.

Attire
The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire worn shall
also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be
performing. Uniform will consist of Navy Royal or Ceil Blue scrubs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Retrieve patients records and escort patients to proper dental specialty section; seat and prepare patient for attending Dental Officer; assist the Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments essential materials drugs and medications; pass instruments retract tissues irrigates oral cavity and operate aspirator; observe patients response and assist patient for dismal from the Dental clinic.
Assists Dental Officer in dental specialty sections: restorative oral surgery periodontics prosthetics and examinations.
Assists Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments essential materials drugs and medications.
Observes patients responses and assists patient for dismissal from the Dental Clinic.
Gives instructions for subsequent dental appointments.
Makes necessary entries on dental treatment records (both electronic and paper records).
Prepares dental treatment room for the next patient.
Assists in the treatment of emergency cases.
Provides dental health education.
Assist in dental prophylaxis.
Dental screening examination.
Assist in placing temporary fillings.
Places and removes rubber dams.
Maintains dental equipment.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
Performs daily inspection of equipment and makes minor repairs.
Reports defective equipment or utilizes corrective action.
Assists in performance of routine oral prophylaxis of the clinical crowns of teeth.
Prepares entries for patients records.
Selects and applies medication in proper portion and anticariogenic agents to surface of teeth Applies medication prescribed by a Dental Officer to gingiva to promote healing.
Fabricates and repairs dental prosthesis and appliances under direct supervision.
Performs procedures pursuant to fabrication and repair of complete denture prosthesis and removable partial prosthesis.
Uses acrylic resins as basic materials.
Takes radiographs of patients using standard and digital dental radiographic panelipse cephalometric and transcranial equipment.
Obtains diagnostic quality periapical occlusal lateral jaw TMJ and panographic radiographs.
Correctly positions patient and film.
Determines level of radiation intensity to minimize radiation exposure of patients.
Processes and saves digital radiographs to patient medical records.
Performs quality assurances on radiographic and developing equipment and safelight.
Maintains proper infection control procedures in radiographic techniques.
Sterilizes contaminated biological waste of dental clinic.
Make pours casts.
Selects tooth shade for composite restorations and dentures.
During periods of downtime the Dental Assistant is expected to accept assignments within the scope of their knowledge skills and clinical abilities. These tasks include but are not limited to:
Daily checks of medical equipment and supplies
Quality assurance audits in BEMR as assigned
Obtain and record vital signs
Perform PPE and supply inventory
Scanning
