You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe primary purpose of the Principal Network Architect roleis to provide strategic and technical leadership design direction oversightand guidance for DIT s Chief Deputy for Internal Ops Division. This role willreport directly to the Senior Director of Network Engineering and will assistthe Senior Engineering Director in executing the Networking Service PortfolioVision. This includes development of the DIT Enterprise Network ServicesService Strategy (SS) Service Design (SD) Service Transition (ST) ServiceOperations (SO) and Continual Service Improvement (CSI) plans. This position isalso responsible for performing research planning design testing andimplementation of enterprise and agency specific Wide Area Network Metro AreaNetwork Local Area Network and Wireless Enterprise Networkinfrastructures.
This key position is responsible for
1> Responsible to be the lead architectfor design of the network architecture and security posture specific to allDIT s onpremises network infrastructures and cloud connecting networkarchitectures. Architecture design includes product selections infrastructuredesigns infrastructure capacity infrastructure reliability infrastructuresecurity testing tuning and optimization.
2> Reviews and analyzes businessrequirements provided by the Senior Director to develop technical networksolutions operational standards and deployment guides.
3> Briefs the Senior Director on theevaluation and or recommendation of security products or procedures to enhanceproductivity and effectiveness of the network infrastructure and cloudconnecting network infrastructure.
4> Coordinates with the Senior Directoron the initiation prioritization and successful completion of all levels ofnetwork infrastructure and cloud connecting network projects.
5> Develops technology functionalrequirement documents test plans specification documents implementationplans and project plans to support network and cloud connecting networkinfrastructures.
6> Responsible for developing andadministering all enterprisewide network infrastructure standards anrational policies.
7> Responsible for ownership ofoverseeing improving and upgrading all enterprise network hardware andsoftware.
8> Responsible for Service Transitionto include planning support validation testing test models transition planknowledge transfer and product release deployment management.
9> Oversees operations and processesrequired to maintain resource capacity utilization levels and software supportlevels of the DIT networks.
10> Ensures network infrastructure and cloud connectinginfrastructure operational capacity is in place ahead of future business needs.
11> Manage technology vendors while staying on top oftechnology advancements and new capabilities.
12> Responsible for the overall network infrastructuresecurity posture by evaluating business strategies and requirementsresearching information security standards conducting system security andvulnerability analysis studying architecture/platforms and identifyingintegration issues while implementing strong security controls.
13> Responsible for the identification of potential areaswhere existing network security policies and procedures require change or newpolicies need to be developed to support future changes to the networkinfrastructure.
14> Maintains security by monitoring and ensurescompliance to engineering standards policies and procedures.
15> Briefs the Senior Director on overall network statusto include operational status software status device deployment statuscapacity metrics data analytics and critical security issues that may affectDIT or customer agencies.
16> Responsible for the ownership of Continual ServiceImprovement specific to network infrastructure and cloud connecting networkinfrastructure. Continual Service Improvement includes ownership of servicereporting service measurement network device configuration enhancementsnetwork device software management process improvements and overall managementof indirect or direct requests for network infrastructure improvements.
