Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and coworking spaces in Brisbane Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if youre near one) at home or a bit of both its up to you.

 

About the role

We are seeking a visionary Creative Director to join our Campaigns Art Direction team. As a key player in the Canva Creative Team you will be at the helm of Canvas brand narrative bringing our core values vision and identity to life through powerful cohesive and innovative marketing campaigns. You will lead a crossfunctional team of designers copywriters strategists and other creatives working collaboratively to shape campaigns that resonate with Canvas diverse global audience.

This is a 14 month fixedterm maternity cover contract with potential opportunities for transitioning to permanent for the right fit. The role requires a strategic thinker with deep creative expertise and an ability to lead and inspire a team of talented creatives. You will oversee the endtoend creative development of global brand initiatives ensuring that each campaign aligns with Canvas mission and resonates across various markets.

 

What youd be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think thats all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things youll be working on when you start but this will likely evolve.

At the moment this role is focused on:

Lead Global Brand Campaigns
Lead the ideation development and execution of Canvas global brand campaigns ensuring they are innovative onbrand and impactful across all channels (TV digital social OOH experiential etc.).

Creative Strategy & Vision
Define the creative direction for global brand initiatives and contribute to the overarching marketing strategy collaborating closely with senior leadership product and regional marketing teams.

Team Leadership
Manage and mentor a team of creatives providing guidance and support to ensure highquality output professional development and creative excellence. Foster a collaborative innovative and inclusive culture within the team.

CrossFunctional Collaboration
Work closely with product marketing growth and analytics teams to align brand campaigns with key business goals user needs and market opportunities.

Brand Consistency & Integrity
Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all touchpoints ensuring that campaigns reflect Canvas core values and resonate authentically with audiences globally.

Innovation & Trendspotting
Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging creative technologies experimenting with new formats and storytelling techniques to keep Canvas brand fresh relevant and exciting.

Performance & Optimization
Collaborate with the marketing and data teams to analyze campaign performance draw insights and continuously refine creative strategies to improve engagement and impact.

  • You have 12 years of creative leadership experience with a proven track record of executing largescale global campaigns and a strong Design/Art Direction background.
  • Youre an expert in multichannel storytelling with an outstanding portfolio showcasing campaigns across TV digital social and more. 
  • You inspire teams to do their best work combining mentorship coaching with clear creative direction.
  • Youre both strategic and handson balancing bigpicture thinking with attention to detail.
  • You love experimenting with trends and new technologies keeping your creative approach fresh and forwardthinking.
  • You thrive in fastpaced environments juggling multiple priorities without missing a beat.

Its a big plus if

  • Youve crafted awardwinning global campaigns that turn heads and spark conversations.
  • You bring experience working in SaaS tech or a rapidly growing digital platform understanding the unique opportunities and challenges of scaling a global brand.
  • You have a knack for navigating global markets and cultural nuances creating campaigns that resonate authentically with diverse audiences around the world.

Canvas inhouse creative team is on a mission to make Canva the one of the most locally loved brand in the world. We work from concept to creation on worldclass creative across brand communications marketing campaigns editorial content and production.

We build global brand love through worldclass campaigns that elevate our product celebrate our community and push creativity. Our goal is to create content that sparks interest and encourages sharing growing awareness of Canva and our mission of empowerment.
