Job Description

Roles and responsibilities


Develop and implement a comprehensive fixed asset management strategy, including acquisition, tracking, valuation, and disposal
Maintain accurate and detailed records of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting of fixed assets
Monitor and analyze fixed asset performance and recommend improvements as necessary
Conduct regular audits of fixed assets to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies
Provide guidance and training to staff on fixed asset management processes and best practices
Prepare financial reports related to fixed assets for senior management review
1. Asset Management and Tracking
Maintain an accurate inventory of all fixed assets within the organization.
Track the acquisition, transfer, and disposal of assets, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
Assign asset tags and update the fixed asset register to reflect changes (new purchases, disposals, etc.).
Conduct regular physical asset counts and reconcile them with the fixed asset register to ensure accuracy.
2. Depreciation and Valuation
Calculate and apply depreciation to fixed assets based on the organization's accounting policies and tax regulations.
Ensure that depreciation schedules are updated regularly and that they align with asset life cycles.
Maintain and review asset valuation methods to ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Prepare reports on asset values, depreciation, and related financial data for internal and external stakeholders.


Desired candidate profile

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, asset management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Minimum of 9-12 years of experience in fixed asset management, accounting, or finance
Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting principles and practices
Proven experience in implementing asset management systems and processes
Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Proficient in financial software and asset management systems
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure that the organization's fixed assets are accounted for in compliance with relevant laws, standards, and regulations.
Prepare periodic reports on the status of fixed assets, including their valuation, depreciation, and disposal for management and auditors.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate records and documentation related to fixed assets.
Ensure the timely filing of taxes related to assets, such as personal property taxes, and ensure compliance with local tax requirements.
