Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Physical Security:

  • Access Control: Implement and manage access control systems (e.g., ID badges, biometrics, key cards) to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed entry to restricted areas of the facility.
  • Perimeter Security: Ensure proper surveillance of the facility perimeter, including fencing, gates, security cameras, and alarms, to deter unauthorized access.
  • Building Security: Monitor and secure doors, windows, and entry points to prevent unauthorized access or intrusion into critical areas such as production lines, data centers, or storage areas.
  • Security Personnel Management: Oversee the deployment and management of security guards or personnel at various checkpoints or security posts to monitor facility entrances, exits, and high-risk areas.

2. Surveillance and Monitoring:

  • CCTV Systems: Manage the installation, maintenance, and operation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance systems to monitor activities within and around the facility.
  • Monitoring Security Systems: Continuously monitor alarm systems, motion detectors, and other security technologies to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
  • Incident Detection and Response: Respond quickly to security incidents, such as break-ins, fire alarms, or unauthorized access, and investigate unusual activity using surveillance data.

3. Risk Assessment and Threat Analysis:

  • Identify Vulnerabilities: Conduct regular security risk assessments and audits to identify weaknesses in the facility’s security infrastructure and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Threat Intelligence: Stay informed about current security threats (e.g., cyber threats, industrial espionage, workplace violence) and implement measures to address emerging risks.
  • Incident Reporting: Develop and maintain an effective incident reporting and documentation system to ensure that all security breaches are logged, investigated, and addressed.

4. Personnel Safety and Security:

  • Employee Training: Provide training for employees on security protocols, emergency response procedures, workplace safety, and how to recognize and report suspicious behavior.
  • Emergency Response Plans: Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans (e.g., evacuation procedures, fire drills, lockdown protocols) to ensure the safety of personnel in case of a crisis.
  • Background Checks: Oversee or coordinate background checks for new hires or contractors to ensure that personnel with access to sensitive areas or equipment are trustworthy and free of security risks.

Desired candidate profile

  • Security Knowledge: Strong understanding of physical security, cybersecurity, risk management, and emergency response protocols.
  • Surveillance Systems Expertise: Experience with CCTV, alarm systems, access control technologies, and other security systems.
  • Risk Assessment Skills: Ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate threats.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting security incidents, liaising with management, and training employees.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think quickly and logically in crisis situations, finding solutions to mitigate or resolve security threats.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for noticing irregularities and identifying potential security risks.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with laws and regulations related to industrial security, safety standards, and data protection.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with security management software, data logging systems, and other security-related technologies.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage security teams, oversee personnel training, and coordinate with other departments.
