This role is based at the following site; Culham Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Principal Physicist you will play a pivotal role in performing and leading UKAEA research into either Exhaust Experiments or Integrated Scenario Modelling in support of the UKAEA scientific programme on MASTU and other national and international experimental devices. You will perform and lead UKAEA studies in the chosen field in support of the UKAEA programme to design STEP and other national and international experimental devices. You will also be expected to develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators advise senior UKAEA management on strategy in the research field and represent UKAEA at international meetings. And also communicating results through presentations at regular internal and external meetings written reports conferences and peer reviewed journal papers.
Additional Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor Early Career researchers. Cosupervise and develop placement and PhD students.
Qualifications :
Essential Requirements:
PhD or equivalent in physics engineering or a closelyrelated discipline.
Broad knowledge of tokamakplasma physics with emphasis on the relevant field of research.
Substantial research experience international recognition and an excellent publication record in the field of research.
Experience in leading an interdisciplinary team of senior and junior researchers in an international research environment.
An excellent teamplayer with an outward facing workethos as will work closely with scientists around the world.
