Inspection Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

Provide technical support and reviews of corrosion, materials and mechanical Inspection matters to ensure compliance with engineering, relevant industry standards and good engineering practices.

Key Accountabilities

Participate in identifying and executing improvement opportunities and action plans based on actual performance.

Manage and oversee the day-to-day work performed by all direct/ contractors. Manage the budget allocation on an on-going basis.

Optimize the use of available resources in carrying out the assigned responsibilities and ensure timely completion according to set standards.

Identify the competencies and knowledge required for direct reports to perform their assigned responsibilities and develop appropriate training plans to enhance performance.

Cascade operational priorities including profitability, reliability, safety & environmental requirements to all direct reports and support them in executing the daily activities

Provide functional supervision to Inspection team and support them in performing their assigned duties and responsibilities. Ensure the quality of work performed by Inspection Contractors as well as compliance with the agreed contract.
1. Inspection and Quality Control:
Conduct inspections of materials, equipment, machinery, or structures to assess their quality, functionality, and compliance with specifications and safety standards.
Perform routine inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) on equipment or structural components, such as welds, pipelines, machinery, or buildings.
Ensure that products and processes conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, ASTM).
Monitor manufacturing processes and work closely with production teams to identify any deviations from quality standards.
2. Testing and Evaluation:
Perform various tests such as mechanical tests (e.g., tensile, hardness, impact), chemical tests (e.g., material composition), and physical tests (e.g., dimensional measurements) to verify the properties of materials and components.
Use advanced testing methods and equipment like ultrasonic testing, X-ray inspection, magnetic particle testing, or visual inspections to evaluate the integrity of materials.
Interpret test results and assess whether products meet required standards, reporting any discrepancies or non-conformances.

Desired candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Certified in minimum of two API’s / or two international certificates related to Inspection field.
  

Minimum Experience

• 10 or more years of direct experience in the field of inspection on static Equipment operation & maintenance, condition monitoring, performance analysis within company such as: Petroleum, Chemical, Fertilizer/Mining or other Industrial Manufacturing organizations.
