Job Description
AECOM Mississauga is hiring a Senior Project Manager (Rail) to lead design teams on Metrolinx On Corridor Works the largest capital infrastructure project in the Ontarios GO Rail Expansion program.
On Corridor Works include all work to facilitate train service including track civil infrastructure signalling electrification infrastructure and electric vehicles as well as the operations and maintenance of the GO rail network. GO Rail Expansion will transform the transportation network in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area by delivering twoway allday service every 15 minutes over core segments of the GO Rail network. Systemwide infrastructure upgrades will include: adding tracks expanding stations electrification of the rail network new locomotives and train control systems to enable more frequent service.
The successful candidate will lead track design teams for multiple projects. Beyond the On Corridor Works project the successful candidate will have the option to lead designs on a variety of freight passenger and commuter rail projects across Canada.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead project pursuits and prepare proposals.
- Participate in business development by establishing long lasting relationships with clients during project execution and attracting new clients.
- Plan and manage each stage of a project to ensure that all contractual commitments are met on time and within budget.
- Identify the necessary resources required for the execution of rail projects in the Transit sector from inception to completion.
- Develop project scope identify deliverables and prepare work plans schedules and budgets for all project stages while performing monitoring and control for the duration of the project.
- Manage scope schedule budget quality safety and change management with the goal of producing functionally and financially viable projects that will be completed on time within the authorized budget and to the required quality.
- Lead project controls staff project coordinators as well as overall project team by interfacing with subdiscipline leads.
- Lead and attend regular coordination meetings internal to the project team as well as client facing meetings.
- Maintain a good understanding of the project scope in order to identify scope creep and initiate the change management process.
- When scope changes occur negotiate solutions to ensure outcomes meet client expectations and contractual obligations.
- Ensure timely internal and external communication throughout all project phases develop and maintain meeting minutes and follow up on action items.
- Comply with the AECOM Quality Management System methodology and project management process.
- Participate in monthly project reviews to review project status budget work plan schedule and risks
- Conduct progress meetings to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns with various key stakeholders.
- Ensure that all project closeout documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion of the project.
- Act as a mentor to junior project management and controls professionals.
- Enroll and obtain the MAP (Managing AECOM Projects) Certification.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree 8 years of relevant experience in delivery of rail and transit projects.
- PMP Designation or Professional Engineer or MBA or equivalent
- Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 years or more of relevant experience in public rail and transit.
- Professional Engineer designation
- PMP certification
- Proven experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities.
- Familiar with other design disciplines typically requiring coordination with rail design such as Systems Architectural Structural Civil Electrical and Mechanical.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication organizational and team skills.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Able to multitask due to concurrent projects.
