Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Operational / Functional

Consistently deliver business solutions which contribute to business results and improved competitiveness (consulting advice, business options)
Deliver quality solutions/ service cost effectively on time and within risk parameters
Provide advice that are generally accepted and implemented on programmes and systems, creating a competitive advantage for organization, leading to quality results
Deliver Cost effective results by tracking the impact of industry and global trends and develop breakthrough solutions (minimized corporate risk, advanced competitiveness) to the benefit of the organization
Risk results
HSE targets
Control machines and processes and provide guidance and advice to other miners
Provide input, advice and recommendations to management and engineering colleagues to resolve problems and optimise mining operations
Analyse and interpret information (in consultation with Technician/Engineer) and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Oversee specific mining process and review information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess evidence of operating problems
Identifying information by categorising, estimating, recognising differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
Inspect and oversee inspection of equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
Advice on and move control settings to start, stop or make necessary adjustments on machinery and equipment units affecting to optimise quality/productivity
Oversee transportation and storage of flammable and other potentially dangerous products to ensure that safety guidelines are followed
Monitor recording instruments, control panel lights, gauges, dials or other indicators and listen for warning signals to verify conformity of operating conditions
Record, review, and compile applicable records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, concentrations, and flows
Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations following protocol
Contribute ensuring compliance to HSERQ requirements
Perform standby duty
Active member of (special) projects teams

Desired candidate profile

High School Certificate (Maths & Science)

Officially recognised competency certificate applicable to specific discipline/function (e.g. Blasting)

Post school qualification preferred

Experience

10 Years Mining experience (6 Years practical experience in specific field)

Skills

  • Acute safety awareness and attitude
  • Valid driving licence (trucks)
  • Meeting (official/regulatory) minimum standards of fitness to perform work in a mine/mine environment
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, operation processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the particular mining activity
  • Advanced knowledge of machines, tools and equipment, including their designs, uses, repair, and first line maintenance
  • Advanced knowledge of policies, rules, processes and procedures
  • Sound understanding of the value chain
  • Sound problem solving abilities
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Effective management skills
  • Highly competent in using applicable industrial control software and/or systems
  • Highly competent in troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions
  • Expert understanding of specific section's processes and procedures
