Position Overview: Themis Recruit are seeking a dedicated solicitor with a minimum of one year PQE to represent their clients in Court of Protection matters.
You will join a dynamic team recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. Our client pride themselves on providing holistic services to their clients many of whom are in vulnerable situations such as facing eviction or lacking essential community care services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all assigned casework efficiently and promptly.
- Analyse legal issues and advise clients on appropriate courses of action.
- Maintain clear and regular communication with clients ensuring compliance with client care standards.
- Handle routine correspondence negotiations and advocacy as required.
- Record time spent on casework accurately and ensure timely billing upon case conclusion.
- Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements for funded cases.
- Stay updated on legal developments relevant to community care and Court of Protection law.
- Perform administrative tasks to support efficient department operations and billing.
- Provide supervision as needed and escalate matters requiring additional oversight.
Requirements
Ideally up to to 3 PQE in Court of Protection law including:- Challenging assessments and care plans
- Ensuring local authority compliance with safeguarding duties
- Identifying judicial review challenges and potential Court of Protection cases
- Acting for P through a litigation friend or family member in Court of Protection proceedings
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients.
Excellent oral written and telephone communication abilities.
Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
Proven problemsolving skills and experience working towards targets.
Proficient IT skills.
Commitment to maintaining access to justice for our client group.
Current Practising Certificate.
Experience with Legal Aid funding and the CCMS system.
Familiarity with privatelyfunded work is a plus.
