Role overview
As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for designing building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports the collection storage and analysis of large volumes of data.
Your work will play a critical role in enabling datadriven decisionmaking across the company.
Responsibilities
- Create efficient data pipelines optimising database performance and ensuring data are accessible reliable and secure
- Develop and optimise data architectures including databases data lakes and data warehouses
- Implement data governance and security measures to ensure data quality consistency and privacy
- Automate data workflows to ensure reliable and timely data availability for stakeholders
- Monitor and improve the performance of data infrastructure and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Collaborate with stakeholders business analysts and other teams to ensure integration and availability of data for various business needs
- Proficiency in ETL processes data modelling and working with cloud platforms is essential
- Strong programming skills (e.g. Python SQL) and experience with big data technologies (Fivetran and Snowflake) are key to this role
Required skills and qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer (midlevel role)
- Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g. Redshift Snowflake) and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL MySQL)
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g. Docker Kubernetes)
- Experience with Extract Transform and Load processes and tools like Apache NiFi Talend or Informatica
- Work knowledge of cloud services like AWS Azure or Google Cloud Platform and data visualisation tools (Looker Tableau or Power BI) for creating dashboards and reports
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in crossfunctional teams
- Continuous integration and deployment practices (CI/CD pipelines)
Skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a focus on performance optimisation and data quality
- Analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience with realtime data processing (e.g. Kafka Flink)
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI data pipelines is a plus
