Job Description

Our awardwinning AECOM Sports and Venues practice is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Architect for immediate employment based in either of our three offices located in Kansas City MO Los Angeles CA and New York NY. The candidate is to lead and execute interdisciplinary projects with a focus on Sports and Public Assembly including professional and collegiate arenas stadia and coliseums recreation centers. 

Our Sports practice is an established leader in the market with over three decades of success. This studio sized practice focuses its work on everything from performance and development facilities to primary competition venues ranging anywhere from small collegiate clients to the largest of professional leagues and franchises.  We look to combine beauty sustainability resiliency equity and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget.

Position Overview:

Working closely with the Sports Practice Leader youll work with talented teams of architects championing creative solutions that redefine spaces enhance communities and align with our commitment to innovation and sustainability. Your leadership and acumen will shape projects that resonate with clients inspire our teams and leave a lasting positive impact.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The role in partnership with the Studios Practice Director and/or Project Manager(s) you will lead a team or multiple teams in the design and technical documentation and delivery of a wide range of projects.

  • Supporting the pursuit of exciting new projects
  • Prepare design and contract drawings using advanced design software tools
  • Develop solutions to a wide range of difficult technical problems
  • Oversee the work of more junior designers and architects
  • Manage client team and project coordination including full documentation coordination with structural MEP lighting AV landscape and civil consultants
  • Support communication between project team clients vendors contractors consultants and building and permitting officials

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in architecture or related field 8 years of relevant experience in all phases of projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered architectural licensed is preferred
  • NCARB registration is desired
  • Experience managing a group ranging in size from a team of 515 architects designers and/or consultants coordinating activities of the project and held accountable for the development coordination and execution of the design and/or construction management activities and the management of project personnel under her/his direction on a daytoday basis.
  • 10 years of project experience in an sports architectural firm.
  • Proficiency in Revit Bluebeam Sketchup Adobe Creative Suite
  • Collegiate and professional sports and recreation design experience
  • Working knowledge of building codes standards building construction and building structures pertinent to transit projects
  • Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents
  • Ability to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction document completion and may perform construction administration
  • Ability to be client facing and lead client discussions and charrettes
  • LEED Certification


Additional Information :

  • Travel will be required as AECOM Sports projects are generally not locally based and at select times of the project cycle overtime would be required to complete all the necessary duties and responsibilities activities
