Technologist - Electrical

We are looking to fill the position of a Electrical Technologist to join our electrical engineering unit forming part of a multidisciplinary consulting engineering team. The company undertakes large capital projects for various clients across many sectors.

The Technologist conducts assignments in the electrical engineering field usually as part of a project team.

Technical Excellence:

• Conducts assignments in the electrical engineering field

• Plans organizes and manages small/medium projects

• Makes recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems

• Prepares and presents technical plans and reports

• Institutes changes in methods designs or equipment

• Under Supervision performs work following the agreedupon budget and schedule.

• When required collects and analyses information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.

• Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.

• Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.

• Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.

• Checks and ensures the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to  design instructions.

• Actively seeks information opportunities to participate and contribute and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.

• Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.

• Assists with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure highquality outputs under project timelines.

• Proficient in BIM Software Revit

Detailed Electrical Engineering of LV and MV systems including the development and checking of:

• Load Lists

• Single Line Diagrams

• Network Diagrams

• Electrical Schematic Diagrams

• Hazardous Area Classification

• Diversification and Load factors.

• Electrical Network Design

• Fault Level Calculations

• Protection Schemes modelling of protection schemes and definition of Protection settings.

• Power Metering specification and interface to Energy / Building Management Systems.

• Cable Routing Design

• Cable Sizing Calculations

• Lighting Calculations modelling and layouts.

• Earthing Risk Assessments earthing system design Earthing layouts.

• Specification of Electrical Equipment including Switchgear Distribution Boards Motor Control Centres Transformers UPSs Cables Lighting etc.

• Specification of Construction Standards of installation.

Qualifications :

• 4 Years experience in a design function after obtainment of Qualification

• BTech Degree

• Registered as a Candidate Technologist or Professional Technician with  ECSA
