Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Geologist tied to the Arlington VA office. This position within our Federal Remediation practice will participate in a team to help execute a variety of Federal investigation/remediation projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will demonstrate experience and working knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements geologic principles and site characterization methods. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support planning and executing projects for the DoD in the areas of environmental compliance and/or cleanup
Perform environmental regulatory research and analysis
Develop and implement environmental solutions and best management practices; and support environmental planning activities
Interface with clients to identify technical requirements
Write work planning documents (e.g. UFPQAPP) and technical reports
Lead and perform field work including sampling and data collection at project sites
Participate in teams of engineers and scientists in execution of project tasks
Analyze data sets draw conclusions and develop risk management recommendations
Manage personal workloads; apprising project managers of progress and obstacles and presenting project outputs for final delivery
Meet required schedules while producing quality work
Work both in a team environment and without supervision
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
Utilizes advanced scientific principles theories practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
Interprets and records data conducts analyses compares findings to relevant studies and local provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Perform work with minimal direction.
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
Plans and organizes project studies.
Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.
May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
BS/BA from an accredited university in geology or related science field and 6 years of experience or equivalency of relevant experience and or education
Valid U.S. Drivers License
Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Requirements
PG Licensed Geologist preferred
Demonstrated experience with the Department of Defense Restoration Program.
Demonstrate familiarity of federal environmental laws and regulations as they apply to the mission and installations within the Department of Defense (e.g. Clean Water Act Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation Liability Act)
Demonstrated experience developing and revising Conceptual Site Models
Demonstrated experience developing and revising UFPQAPPs
Demonstrated experience writing Remedial Investigation reports Feasibility Study reports Proposed Plans and Decision Documents.
