The Reading Room Assistant reflects the mission vision and values of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Reading Room Assistant works under the general supervision of a Department Administrator or Manager and is primarily responsible for minimizing interruptions and improving workflow that supports the physicians activities.
Responsibilities.
- Order track locate and file radiology films jackets and requisitions.
- Pick up and deliver Xrays as needed.
- Ensure all Xrays are prepared for the radiologist to read.
- Ensure all Xrays have been read before filing. Record results.
- Manage and resolve Quality Assurance issues.
- Communicate with other members of the health care team any problems related to maintaining the efficiency of the file room operation.
- Reception Desk Appointment Making.
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner to ensure optimal delivery of customer service to patients members and coworkers on the phone and inperson using skills and abilities required for the age of the person being served.
- Check patients in for exams in an accurate and timely manner.
- Complete CPR forms correctly and/or any additional forms needed.
- Maintain files containing requisitions in an accurate manner.
- Handle challenging situations so that patient and organization needs are met.
- Minimize emotional situations and accommodate members when the organization has let members down.
- Ensure member receives proper written instructions and preparation information for an exam.
- Retrieve necessary jackets and charts for appointments.
- Pick up and deliver interdepartmental mail.
- Maintain computer appointment schedule and files containing requisitions.

Qualifications :
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in a clerical position dealing with the public.
