The Risk Prevention department protects MSC interests by minimizing the losses risks and reaching customers satisfaction through settlements. Our goal is to secure fluid and safe container flow and assure that MSC Contract of Carriage is completed in full.
The Risk Prevention Specialist is responsible for monitoring handling and processing container and cargo damages during Ocean and Inland transportation.
This Specialist also provides support and guidance to MSC internal and external customers on damaged full container load and securing safe container delivery within the Scope of MSC Contract of Carriage including Ocean and InLand transportation.
Key Accountabilities
- Assess and evaluate cargo and non cargo related associated risks damages financial losses and expenses that might occur during full container transportation and delivery.
- Follow up with customers on damaged containers and next action to be taken to complete MSC Contract of Carriage.
- Establish all chain of events and address third parties liabilities through case analysis and by mitigating financial losses addressed to MSC.
- Conduct thorough investigation and collect all reports and evidence to establish liable parties.
- Arrange special equipment delivery or cargo transloading or reworking.
- Communicate with MSC internal and external customers Terminals Rail providers Depots Transloading facilities marine surveyors marine lawyers.
- Negotiate claim settlements and secure successful recoveries against third party liabilities.
- Follow up on invoices and payments attributed to files.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional departments to deliver elevated customer service experience manage risk and drive revenue goals.
Qualifications :

This position requires a strategic and analytical mindset who can demonstrate the following characteristics:
- 23 years of experience and knowledge of Transportation industry warehousing and cargo logistics.
- Bachelors degree.
- Desire to provide the best possible experience for our customers.
- Shows your skills in developing timelines and completing assigned tasks and files.
- Capacity to evaluate situations and find the most effective and costs saving decision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and proactive approach to make prompt decisions.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment multitask and work under pressure towards deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Bilingual (French and English) Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Claims experience (an asset).
