Primary Responsibilities
- Develop safe engineering solutions through design problem analysis and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects.
- Assist project/operations management in meeting safety cost quality and schedule targets by proposing plan changes recommending contractor payments preparing progress reports and coordinating work schedules
- Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies analysis exercising judgment in information selection and recommending safe engineering designs
- Contribute to CIMAs engineering practices by conducting studies developing technical standards exercising judgment in information evaluation recommending designs and providing guidance to other engineers
- Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients establishing design criteria approving technical documentation and assessing/reporting progress against standards and objectives for safe quality budgetcompliant and timely project completion
- Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment
- Prepare project documentation like reports specifications proposals estimates design basis and test plans per CIMAs practices
- Develop design work packages with scope duration and effort estimates and manage design tasks including scope schedule and cost for existing and new facilities
- Provide signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record per EGBC and CIMAs practices
- Offer technical assistance construction support and field reviews as required
- Perform structural design analysis and detailing for structures associated with transmission underground cables (including potheads concrete vaults cable duct banks) and transmission submarine cables (including terminations and potheads)
- Apply loads design criteria seismic analysis per regulatory and industry standards considering associated civil mechanical electrical systems like foundations lightning protection conductors and hardware
Qualifications :
- University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience and a history of working in Transmission projects.
- Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in BC/ Canada or eligible for registration in BC
- Proficient in design/analysis software and CAD systems along with familiarity of drawing standards
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication abilities in English written and verbal
- Experience in design tasks including scope schedule and cost control
The expected salary for this position is from $80000 to $100000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidates experience training skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
