Assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages in coordination with the assigned Consultant , utilizing the full range of Podiatric skills and knowledge and evidence based practice to achieve satisfactory outcomes for service users based on their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Education/ Professional Qualification
MSC - Master’s Degree in Podiatry, Related degree (or sub specialty) or equivalent
Experience
Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience as a Podiatric Assistant in a reputable healthcare provider setting
Clinical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, specifically the musculoskeletal structure of the feet and ankles, as well as conditions that impact them.
Ability to diagnose and treat common and complex foot and ankle conditions, ranging from sports injuries to chronic conditions like diabetes-related foot ulcers.
Skilled in performing podiatric surgeries, including corrective procedures, joint fusions, and reconstructive surgeries.
Competent in using medical imaging (X-rays, MRI) and diagnostic tools to assess conditions and plan treatments.
Patient Care & Compassion:
A patient-centered approach to care, demonstrating empathy and understanding of the physical and emotional challenges patients face, particularly those with chronic conditions like diabetes.
Ability to educate patients on the importance of foot care, including prevention of injury, proper footwear choices, and maintaining good health for long-term mobility.
Strong communication skills to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and post-treatment care plans in an accessible and understandable manner.
Surgical Skills:
Proficiency in performing surgical procedures, including minor and major foot and ankle surgeries, with an emphasis on minimizing complications and optimizing recovery.
Knowledge of post-surgical care, including managing dressings, infection prevention, and rehabilitation.
Ability to handle emergency podiatric cases, including trauma, fractures, or infections that require immediate surgical intervention.
