341 - Miscellaneous Operation I

SUMMARY

Beveling is a chamfer ground on the edge of a lens or prism. Bevels are used to prevent chipping or to achieve a mechanical fit. The person performing this job function will use a diamond wheel to bevel parts. This job is somewhat repetitive requires good manual dexterity and the ability to make decisions.

Beveler I – All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform with guidance and training during the first few years of employment. There will be some positions that will continue to be this level when set ups and adjustments are not made by the employee.

Beveler II – All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform at a confident proficient level in 2 or more years of experience. This would include setting up and making adjustments with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily after completing the initial training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Regular and punctual attendance is required
• Overtime hours may be required if needed
• General understanding of the flow of parts
• Bar coding to record flow of parts
• Set up and shut down of machinery
• Work under moderate supervision
• Understanding and use of work instructions
• Utilizes gauges to measure bevel and angle of parts
• Clean machines

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to understand speak and read English to interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to solve common problems associated with the job.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
