Job Description

Roles and responsibilities



Responsible to transcribe patient medical information accurately and efficiently and other assigned typing duties using transcribing and word-processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Fills out and receives patients medical request forms.
  • Logs all incoming medical requests for references.
  • Types the handwritten Arabic reports done by the doctor.
  • Typing miscellaneous reports/letters from doctors and other clinics.
  • Identifies mistakes in reports, and check with doctors to obtain the correct information.
  • Translates medical term and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of patient.
  • Communicates effectively with medical staff and allied personnel concerning the progress of medical reports within the limits of confidentiality laws.
  • Communicate with patients for processing their request and releasing of medical reports.
  • Implements and monitors the appropriate approved policies and procedures to achieve the hospital goals/objectives in pursuit of standard care, quality performance and improvement.
  • Check patient referral forms and fill up the information on the sick leave form.
  • Applies the policies of MOH and HMG regarding the issuance of sick leave.
  • Complies with the standards laid down by the joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA)/ Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realms of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Desired candidate profile


College graduate or diploma holder

Experience

At least 1 year of experience in the same field.
Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in medical reports, patient records, and documentation.
Organizational Skills: Effectively manages multiple reports and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines.
Communication Skills: Clear and professional interaction with medical staff, patients, and external stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT).
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and report management software.
Confidentiality: Strong commitment to maintaining patient privacy and complying with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to report discrepancies or delays.
