Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey in the heart of maritime innovation Norsepower a pioneer in sustainable shipping solutions is bringing sails back to shipping and saving the planet at the same time.We are now seeking a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer Trainee to join our team.
Norsepower Rotor Sail harnesses the wind to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of ships. It is the first commercially available mechanical sail for large vessels. It has a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepowers project services cover all phases from sales to project delivery and operational support.
You will join a dynamic 13person Mechanical team with a primary focus on designing and developing Norsepower Rotor Sails.As a summer trainee you will have the opportunity to work on mechanical design and 3D modelling using Creo and Windchill. In addition your responsibilities will include updating and managing documents such as installation manuals maintenance guides and specifications. This role might slightly focus on documentation depending on your background and skills.In this position you will gain valuable experience in marine technology design and learn how a product development environment operates for a relatively new product. Youll be supported by a agile team that works collaboratively and maintains a great team spirit.
To succeed in this position we expect you to have completed at least a few years of relevant studies and have a solid theoretical understanding of composites. Any prior experience with design work and familiarity with Creo is appreciated but above all a curious mindset and a strong willingness to learn new things are essential. A careful and detailoriented approach to work is also important. The contract will be fixedterm and availability to work from May until the end of August is highly preferred.Our office is located in Ruoholahti and we operate in a flexible hybrid model. To foster teamwork we encourage you to be present at least three days per week.
