Pharmacists play a key role in the healthcare system working closely with physicians nurses and other healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive the correct medications and understand how to use them properly.
Requirements:
- Dispensing Medications: Pharmacists prepare and dispense prescription medications ensuring that the correct drug dosage and form are provided to the patient.
- Patient Counseling: Pharmacists educate patients about their medications including how to take them potential side effects drug interactions and the importance of adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Drug Therapy Management: Pharmacists review patients medication profiles and may collaborate with doctors to adjust therapy for efficacy safety and costeffectiveness. They can help manage chronic conditions like diabetes hypertension or asthma by recommending and monitoring drug regimens.
- Clinical Consultation: Pharmacists work in hospitals clinics or other healthcare settings providing clinical advice on drug therapy to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Compounding Medications: In some cases pharmacists may prepare personalized medications that are not commercially available such as specialized dosages formulations or delivery forms.
- Monitoring Health and Drug Interactions: Pharmacists also assess the potential for adverse drug reactions and interactions between prescribed medications overthecounter drugs and dietary supplements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Skills Required:
- BS Pharmacy & Registered Pharmacist (NYS) license required (or able to obtain).
- 2 years of inpatient Hospital Pharmacy experience
- Willingness to work Evening shift
- Computer knowledge is preferred.
Shift:
- Primary shift: 2:30p to 11p
- Secondary shifts: 1p to 9:30p and 7a to 3:30p
