Program Description
Our competitive Media Internship program at Public Media Network provides a handson learning experience for individuals passionate about media production storytelling and developing durable skills through the extensive use and creation of visual media. Designed for students or recent graduates the program offers interns the chance to work closely with experienced media professionals on various projects that promote community engagement through education and journalism. Interns will gain exposure to content creation digital marketing and various aspects of media production while building a professional portfolio and learning essential career skills.
Our mission focuses on the intersection of media education and workforce development aiming to produce impactful content that empowers individuals with the knowledge and tools to succeed in todays job market. Interns will play an active role in this mission contributing to highquality media projects that make a difference in the community.
Program Goals:
- Professional Skill Development Interns will acquire practical skills in media production including video and amp; audio editing digital content creation and project management. These skills are crucial for building a competitive portfolio and succeeding in the media industry.
- Workforce Development Focus The program will equip interns with knowledge about media trends career pathways and skills training in visual storytelling journalism and documentary production. Interns will develop content that highlights these topics helping to inform and educate diverse audiences.
- Mentorship and amp; Networking Interns will receive guidance and mentorship from seasoned media professionals gaining insight into the industry while building a network of contacts. This mentorship is designed to support the interns personal and professional growth.
- Community Engagement By contributing to media projects focused on community needs and workforce development interns will understand how media can serve as a tool for education and change. They will develop a deep appreciation for our role in fostering informed connected communities.
- Portfolio and amp; Career Preparation Interns will leave the program with a strong portfolio of work and a better understanding of their career options in media. Through practical projects workshops and feedback sessions theyll be prepared to pursue opportunities in journalism communications or other fields of media production.

and nbsp; and nbsp; and nbsp; and nbsp; and nbsp;Duration: 15week program 10 hours per week.
Requirements:
- 10 hours per week for 15 weeks onsite in Kalamazoo Michigan with regular mentor meetings. and nbsp;
- Intellectual curiosity selfmotivated learner and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Be a team player and amp; thoughtful collaborator.
- Access to reliable transportation. and nbsp;
- Prior experience with the full technical aspects of media production is not required. However the demonstrable ability to generate and edit ones own independent media projects is strongly considered for this competitive opportunity.
