Lead Civil Designer
We are working with a leading engineering firm known for delivering innovative solutions across the energy and resources sectors. They are currently seeking an experienced Lead Civil Designer to join their dynamic Energy & Resources division based in the Perth CBD office. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and shape the delivery of a diverse portfolio of sustaining capital projects for highprofile clients in the mining industry.
About the Role:
As the Lead Civil Designer you will play a pivotal role in managing and guiding both local and offshore design teams. Your focus will be on ensuring the delivery of highquality designs meeting project timelines and upholding the highest standards of technical excellence. This role requires a confident leader with strong technical expertise particularly in bulk earthworks and haul road design and the ability to foster collaboration across geographically diverse teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of local and offshore civil designers to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Managing the endtoend design process for sustaining capital projects ensuring adherence to project scopes budgets and schedules.
- Utilizing advanced design tools including 12D Bentley OpenRoads and MicroStation to develop detailed designs for mining infrastructure such as haul roads and bulk earthworks.
- Coordinating with engineers project managers and clients to align design objectives with project requirements.
- Conducting design reviews and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.
- Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
- Driving continuous improvement in design processes and standards fostering innovation and efficiency within the team.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure successful collaboration and project outcomes.
What We’re Looking For:
To excel in this role you will bring a combination of technical expertise leadership skills and a collaborative mindset. The ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary or vocational qualifications in Civil Drafting and/or Design.
- Extensive handson experience with 12D design software as well as proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads and MicroStation.
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in civil design within the mining industry particularly in bulk earthworks and haul road design.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to guide and manage diverse teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to present ideas clearly.
- A proactive positive attitude with a focus on achieving results and delivering highquality outcomes.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
