Seeking a Fulltime Occupational Therapist. There is an opportunity for permanent employment for the right person. The desired candidate will be selfmotivated and possess an entrepreneurial spirit to build and support a successful rehab program. This person will be proficient with a variety of patient populations including; orthopedic neurological and cardiopulmonary impairments. The primary caseload will be a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient care. This includes providing care for longterm care residents and consultations in the emergency department. The successful candidate will be able to advocate our services to surrounding facilities and maintain strong relationships around the region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides consultation in areas such as environmental design adaptive equipment proper positioning of patients to prevent contractures and splinting and to agencies such as local schools nursing homes visiting nurse associations and general hospitals.
- Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients by departmental standards and procedures.
- Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports.
- Designs and administers treatment programs to increase patients levels of functioning.
- Uses therapeutic exercises and activities to improve or maintain strength range of motion and fine motor coordination. Instruct patients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for meal preparation home management dressing feeding and other selfcare skills.
- Trains patients in the use of upperextremity prosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines.
- Participates in home assessments.
- Provides therapy for neurological integration; administers sensormotor integration treatment techniques and visual perceptualmotor remediation programs.
- Uses activities to increase the developmental levels of patients.
- Designs and provides individualized therapy for adult learningdisabled patients.
- Administers treatment programs to patients with a variety of conditions including orthopedic neurologic cardiac and balance disorders.
- Uses activities to improve judgment skills reality orientation and organizational skills.
- Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructs patients in energy conservation joint protection safety techniques for sensory loss and transferring and visual field deficits; instructs patients families in personal care for patients especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain.
- Administers prevocational programs to prepare patients to return to or enter a work setting.
- Provides activities to assess patients organizational skills attention spans cognitive abilities coordination (fine and grossmotor) and adaptive equipment needs.
- Designs home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs.
- Perform related duties as assigned by management.
- Employees are required to maintain confidentiality by organizational policy and state and federal regulations including but limited to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean.
- Checks work email at a minimum of once per shift.
- Completes all mandatory education within a given timeframe.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Represents the organization positively and professionally in the community.
- Attends annual review and department inservices as scheduled.
- Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes.
- Actively checks and responds to emails.
- Actively participates in the departments quality improvement (QI) activities.
- Complies with all organizational policies and employee handbook.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
Experience:
- One year of experience preferred but new grads welcome.
Education:
- Bachelors Masters or Doctorate degree in occupational therapy required.
Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:
- A current valid WA state Occupational Therapist license (or in the process of obtaining) is required.
- BLS/BCLS is required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers patients customers and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
