Job Description
WMAQTV the NBCUniversal station in Chicago is looking for a Sports Anchor/Reporter to be responsible for gathering information on many current sports events games and personalities and preparing the information for live onair broadcast presentation. Responsibilities include providing anchored sports segment(s) for newscasts. Will function in Sports Anchor and Reporter roles both for onair and on Stations web site or another digital platform as assigned. Will work within a strong team environment.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 4 years television news anchor/reporter experience covering Sports.
- BA or BS in Journalism Communications or related field.
- This is an AFTRAunion represented position. If not now a member membership will be required upon hire.
Desired Qualifications:
- Very knowledgeable of all Chicago sports teams and personnel
- Must be able to work varied work schedules during the week and work weekends when needed.
- Must have strong speech skills to communicate and present effectively onair during live broadcasts during breaking news situations and able to adlib effortlessly in various types of situations individually as well as with coanchors.
- Must have excellent interviewing skills.
- Must be able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines on a regular basis.
- Must have excellent computer skills and ability to work with a variety of computer applications.
Additional Requirements:
- Required OnSite: This position is required to be performed fulltime from an NBCUniversaldesignated worksite.
