Job Description
The role:
Checkout.com is seeking a talented and dynamic Senior Legal Counsel with a strong global employment law background to join our Employment Legal team. This role will involve advising on the full spectrum of employment law issues across our global business.
You will be able to handle multiple areas of responsibilities autonomously demonstrating excellent critical judgement with a handson approach. You will report into our Associate General Counsel (Head of Employment) based in London.
You will be joining a highachieving legal team in one of Europes most valuable fintechs. Our mission is to be the best legal team in the world providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice finding creative solutions to manage risk and becoming trusted advisers to our colleagues in the business.
This is a permanent and fulltime role based in London.
How youll make an impact:
- Take a consultative and collaborative approach to handling complex and varied employment law issues.
- Work closely with our People Team and other key stakeholders in our offices around the globe on employment law issues in our 20 countries.
- Lead advice in a number of these countries as well as collaborating on other global employment law projects.
- Advise our People team and business leaders on a full range of employmentrelated issues including but not limited to hiring contractual issues policies compensation and benefits (including an employee share scheme) HR compliance restrictive covenants performance management misconduct investigations employee relations terminations and employment litigation
- Support the team in developing processes and templates to address employment issues in a practical and efficient way.
Qualifications
- UK qualified solicitor
- 7 years of experience as an employment lawyer.

About You:
- Experience as inhouse employment counsel in a global business.
- Experience advising on employment law in other jurisdictions in which we operate (with external counsel support where needed). French employment law experience would be a particular benefit.
- Work with a highgrowth technology or another fastpaced company.
- Exceptional analytical and writing skills with a businesscentric focus on risk.
- Excellent time management skills and experience managing a diverse workload and competing stakeholder demands.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
- Enthusiasm for new challenges and for working with a range of different stakeholders.
- Be a systemic thinker with proven abilities for process improvement and simplification.
- Comfortable with ambiguity constant change and a fastpaced culture.
