Job Description

 

The salary for this role is 67023 (inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP) 7300) and onsite working is expected for 4 days each week

This role will be based at Culham Oxfordshire.

This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact Join us as the Electronics Design Team Leader and contribute to the future of fusion energy. In this role you will lead the Electronics Design Team driving the design construction and commissioning of electrical and electronic systems for UKAEA projects. Youll manage and develop team capabilities ensure clear communication of responsibilities and support performance and career growth.

As a subject matter expert in electronics design (power systems digital analogue programming PCB layout) youll provide technical leadership supportive management and operational support for critical systems. Youll also work closely with internal and external stakeholders ensuring successful delivery of complex projects on time and within budget while adhering to UKAEAs Technical Control System processes.You will contribute to UKAEA Electronics Design Standards.

This role requires strong expertise in electrical/electronics engineering project management and team motivation making it ideal for an experienced engineering manager looking to shape the future of fusion energy.

You will have experience managing multidisciplinary teams the ability to create and assess/authorise comprehensive work packs and expertise in technical writing specifications standards and testing wed love to hear from you. You should also possess strong leadership and influencing skills with the capability to engage effectively with stakeholders at various levels across the organisation.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. 

  • Lead and manage direct reports by prioritising tasks monitoring progress and ensuring responsibilities and programme requirements are met while providing technical guidance and mentoring to improve efficiency and professional development.
  • Foster a positive working environment and motivate your team to succeed.
  • Promote a safe working culture ensuring compliance with site and regulatory rules and proactively organising necessary training for team members.
  • Develop detailed work packages and Gantt charts for larger projects providing regular updates to the Group Leader on progress challenges and personnel workload.
  • Forecast team workload and ensure a steady stream of UKAEA projects while managing job cards service requests and coordinating team involvement.
  • Recruit manage and coordinate agency workers and external contractors to support the teams objectives and provide regular reports to the Group Leader on personnel and workload status.

Qualifications :

Essential Requirements:

  • A Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline and relevant professional experience in an electrical/electronic engineering role. 
  • Member of IET or another accredited institution.
  • A practical approach combined with an expert understanding of electrical and electronics engineering theory and practice including the manufacturing and build of large and small electronic systems. 
  • A strong demonstratable track record of delivering complex Electronic and Electrical projects to time and budget. 
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Safe Systems of Work. 

 

Desirable Requirements: 

  • Chartered Engineer accreditation
  • Experience of working within high hazard Industrial environment. 
  • Knowledge of project engineering and contract management or exposure to commercial processes 
  • with competitive tendering. 
  • IEE Wiring regulations 18th edition (or later).
