Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an innovative handson Director to lead our mechanical engineering team to develop firsttomarket products that will create the future of medical aesthetics. Products apply a broad range of internally developed directed energy sources including laser ultrasound and radiofrequency devices. Our mechanical team designs the chassis thermal management systems and precision optomechanical and electromechanical assemblies that enable these products to revolutionize patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate would have a strong track record of innovation the ability to lead and inspire an engineering team and experience driving product designs through all phases of commercial product development. This position provides a unique opportunity to drive innovation from the component to system level in a fastpaced collaborative and wellfunded R&D environment.
As part of a tightly knit innovative and dynamic R&D team you can see your work come to life as it is manufactured onsite and used in our clinic! Working within a diverse range of engineering disciplines including laser physics power and digital electronics mechanics software and biomedicine you will have a direct impact on future Cutera devices and thereby influence the future of dermatology.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspire and mentor a team of mechanical engineers to develop innovative and costeffective designs that enable firsttomarket products.
- Efficiently manage team workflow to support a wide range of projects including proofofconcept product development and sustaining engineering.
- Develop and maintain industryleading tools for the group including CAD and FEA software 3D printers and an inhouse machine shop.
- Serve as a primary technical contributor in defining concepts for new system architectures.
- As a working manager contribute individually to the development of new designs and design verification.
- As a critical member of the engineering department management team help define and drive improvements to increase the quality speed and impact of our product development process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical engineering with at least 7 years of product development experience.
- At least 4 years of experience managing a team of mechanical engineers with a focus on leading by example.
- A track record of contributing to successful product introductions including at least one significant program from proofofconcept through pilot production and a strong understanding of product development best practices.
- Indepth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and material properties of metals ceramics and plastics.
- Extensive experience with CAD (SolidWorks is preferred) and GD&T.
- Proven experience in structural analysis thermal analysis fluid dynamics and multiphysics simulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A passion for developing creative and practical design solutions to product design challenges.
- A sense of urgency in driving projects to meet project schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in biomedical applications and medical device development is a plus.
- Experience leading product development projects is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of electronics and optics.
Additional Information :
Compensation:
Cutera expects to reasonably pay in the range listed below for this position based on the city and state listed in the job posting. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience education and candidate residence if the position is remote or fieldbased.
- Base salary: $180000 $220000
