Responsible for the implementation of maintenance programs to ensure that all hospital equipment is well maintained including Electronic and Electro-mechanical equipment that is connected to patients or is used to diagnose disease. The equipment handled includes Defibrillators, Cardiac Monitors, Infant Care Centers, Incubators, Infusion Pumps, Audiometers, Electrosurgical Units, Microscopes, Spiro meters, Dental Chairs, Anesthesia Units, etc. Judgment to consult supervisor when necessary is essential.
Subject to on call for medical equipment emergencies.
Follows department policies, procedures, and applicable accreditation standards (CBAHI / JCIA).
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Graduate engineer from an accredited university in Biomedical or Electronics & Communication or Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Special course in Communication or instrumentation or Industrial engineering is preferred.
Experience:
Two (5) years’ experience in Biomedical Engineering in an acute care hospital facility.
Worked for a 150 bed minimum hospital for two years in Saudi Arabia or internationally.
Competencies & skills:
Fluency in verbal and written English.
Competent management skills.
Working knowledge of OSHA and other international safety standards and regulations.
Keeps abreast of developing technology in clinical engineering.
Follows all departments policies and procedures.
Participates in on-going education program developed by the department, e.g. Department Policy and Procedures, Fire Safety, Risk Management, Environmental control.
