The ideal candidate will hold a CPA designation with 5 to 10 years of experience and demonstrate a handson "rollupyoursleeves" approach to accounting and financial operations. Experience in the service or IT industry is preferred along with proven expertise in financial planning and analysis tax strategies and financial systems. Familiarity with research and development credits (SR&ED) is also highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
Finance Leadership
- Manage and develop a small finance team (1 2 members).
- Lead hiring performance reviews and team development initiatives.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Create and update annual budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct monthly/quarterly variance analysis and financial modeling for business needs.
- Manage cash flow and establish key performance indicators (KPIs).
Accounting
- Oversee monthend close and yearend audit processes.
- Enforce accounting policies including handling complex transactions.
Tax and Compliance
- Develop and execute tax strategies including CRA SR&ED filings.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and grant requirements.
Operational Oversight
- Approve compensation expense requests and accounts payable over thresholds.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in accounts receivable and payable processes.
Requirements
Required Experience
- CPA designation (minimum 5 10 years of experience).
