Job Summary: We are hiring a Hydraulics Design Engineer to support the development of transportation projects. This role involves designing and analyzing open and closed storm drainage systems for linear transportation projects hydraulic culvert/bridge design and ensuring compliance with permitting requirements. The ideal candidate will also assist in developing erosion and sediment pollution control design plans and support the overall civil/highway group with design efforts.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform hydrology and hydraulic analysis for transportation project design and construction.
- Design stormwater management systems and detention/retention ponds.
- Provide fieldwork assistance to verify existing site conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and timelines.
- Develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
Requirements: - Minimum of 8 years of experience in the technical design of transportation projects.
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; ability to obtain North Carolina PE is a must.
- Proficiency in MicroStation GEOPAK drainage and HECRAS.
- Experience in developing deliverables per NCDOT standards and requirements (including BSR/CSR) is preferred.
- Knowledge of erosion and sediment pollution control design (NCDOT Level III Certification is a plus).
- Familiarity with NCDOT Guidelines for Drainage Studies and Hydraulic Design and FHWA Hydraulic Design Manual.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment is highly desirable.
