We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welding Foreman to join our team. As a Welding Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the production and quality of welding projects. You will lead a team of welders and ensure that all welding work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and project specifications. This is a hands-on role, requiring strong technical skills as well as leadership abilities.
Responsibilities
Manage and supervise a team of welders, providing guidance and support as needed
Ensure that welding projects are completed on time and within budget
Inspect and assess welding work for quality and conformance to specifications
Develop and maintain welding schedules, assigning tasks to team members
Train and mentor new welders, ensuring that they understand and follow safety procedures
Troubleshoot welding equipment and recommend repairs or replacements when necessary
Collaborate with project managers and clients to determine welding requirements and specifications
Supervision of Welding Operations:
Supervise and oversee all welding activities in the workshop or on the construction site.
Ensure welding work is performed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality control requirements.
Organize and assign daily tasks to welding teams, ensuring efficient workflow and proper allocation of resources.
Team Leadership and Coordination:
Lead a team of welders and support staff, providing guidance and technical expertise when needed.
Mentor and train welders, ensuring skill development and compliance with industry standards.
Coordinate with other foremen and project managers to ensure smooth operation and project timelines.
Quality Control and Inspection:
Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) and visual inspections on welded components to verify weld integrity.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in welding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
In-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards
Strong understanding of welding equipment and tools
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on quality and safety
Valid welding certifications (e.g., AWS) are preferred, but not required
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of welding techniques, processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.), and materials.
Familiarity with welding codes and standards, such as AWS, ASME, and API.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and guide the welding team.
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with other departments and reporting to management.
Problem-solving ability to address technical and operational challenges effectively.
